Getting started
How do I connect with my partner?
Send them your invite link or code from the app. Nearer is always one-to-one — a code connects exactly two people, and once you’re paired, no one else can join.
Can I use Nearer with more than one person?
No — and that’s deliberate. Nearer is for two, only two. There are no groups, feeds, or followers.
Sending & receiving signals
Why can’t my partner see my signal yet?
Every signal has a built-in delay before it becomes visible (around 90 minutes by default). It’s there on purpose — so the signal lands once the first wave of emotion has settled, as an invitation rather than an ambush.
Can I cancel a signal after sending it?
Yes — you can cancel a signal any time before it’s revealed to your partner. Once it’s visible, it can’t be un-sent; instead you’d talk, and then close it together.
How does closing a signal work?
After you’ve actually talked, you each mark “we talked” in the app. The signal closes only when both of you have — no one closes it for the other. This keeps Nearer from ever being used to get the last word.
Do I have to reply inside the app?
No. When you receive a signal you can reply “let’s talk now,” “not now — tonight,” or “I see you,” — or simply react in real life. The app never requires an in-app response.
Account & privacy
Is what I want to talk about private?
There is no message field in Nearer — you only ever send a feeling and a level of urgency. We never see, and never store, what you needed to talk about. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
How do I unpair or change partner?
[Describe your unpair flow — e.g. Settings → Partner → Unpair. Update this line to match the app.]
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account [from Settings / by emailing us]. This removes your profile and associated signals. More detail is in the Privacy Policy.
